Plus: everything John Oliver says.

Original:
Mark Sullivan writes:
Carlotti covers a song by Brigitte Bardot? Stranger things have happened. It’s the title song of the 1971 film ‘Boulevard du Rhum’ in a new arrangement by Fred Pallem, French big band jazz composer-arranger with Le Sacre du Tympan.
The music for the film, about a French silent screen actress encountering the profiteers of US Prohibition in the 1920s, was written by the film composer François de Roubaix. The album has new interpretations of the music of de Roubaix (1939-1975), who was killed in a diving accident in the Canaries. ‘Boulevard du rhum’ (lyrics by Pierre Pelegri and Robert Enrico) was a good vehicle for BB, perhaps the last major track she recorded.
Bardot’s version from the movie:
Barbara Carlotti is the best-known singer on a mainly instrumental album of de Roubaix’s film music. It’s available on Soundcloud here
Do try this great duet from the same album as well:
New kid on the block, who sounds like Barbara and Francoise Hardy, which is nice:
This is her second EP.
