Yet another Canadian songstress. Lysandre from Montreal made an EP, with four divine songs. Sweet grooves, soothing voice. Could this be the same Lysandre, an award winning classical musician?
From Lille, Lena (or Sandryne, her real name) recorded an album about 5 years ago in English. This single, from last June, is a first French effort, which sounds very promising. Maybe a tad louder than most of the songs posted here, but ooh that voice. Intriguing video too. Background on that here. Lena (in English) on Bandcamp here.
Fanny made a new single, a reprise of an old Joe Dassin hit. Lovely, highly charming.
Le Couleur rarely disappoints. The trio from Montreal are outdoing themselves with this new single (from a highly recommended album). An eighties-feel, with pink fluffy edges. But also the loungey atmosphere of Air. Anyhoo, we like it.
Canadian singer Laura Lefebvre released a bi-lingual leisurewear soundtrack.
New single, and it’s GREAT
Staplin, a duo fishing in the same pond as Nicolas & JB from Air, love the cinema. And soundtracks. So they made an album with music for movies. And they called some guest singers, like the phenomenal Halo Maud. BUT, the catch here is a track featuring the pipes of April March. Yes, still alive and singing.
Lovely French (not Canadian, my bad) songstress Clara Luciani, she of the wonderful, hook-laden Sainte-Victoire album, recorded two notable duets lately. One part-French/part-English version of Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra’s Summer Wine.
And this very doux duet with Julien Doré:
