
The combination of husky vocals, dreampop and a nod to sad Wall of Sound-style ballads is pure heaven to me. To make it more specific: Mazzy Star. produced by Phil Spector, with a young Françoise Hardy singing. Enter Agathe Watremez, actress and singer, who recorded an album and a handful of singles. She’s as much influenced by the dark romantic Angelo Badalamenti soundtracks as she is by Lana del Rey. This most recent single has that big melancholy factor with on-the-verge-of-tears-vocals that I find irresistible:
