Mina Tindle

Mina Tindle = Parisienne Pauline de Lassus. She was featured here before. Her gorgeous album came out today, one song is partly in French. It’s a love letter to Aaron Dessner (The National-bandmember), her husband.

La Feline

Pierre Vassiliu isn’t a household name like Gainsbourg, Brel or Montand, but the French singer (who passed away in 2004) was an enormous inspirition for Agnes/La Feline. For an EP, she recorded a rarity of Vassiliu, with beautiful outcome. THIS is the original.

Prune

Prune Meyer, chanteuse from France, sounds like a very promising artist. A girl to watch. Two singles out so far. ‘Amis et +’ has a nice groove, think Louise Verneuil, think Rose Kid. That vein.

Lysandre

Yet another Canadian songstress. Lysandre from Montreal made an EP, with four divine songs. Sweet grooves, soothing voice. Could this be the same Lysandre, an award winning classical musician?

Lena Deluxe

From Lille, Lena (or Sandryne, her real name) recorded an album about 5 years ago in English. This single, from last June, is a first French effort, which sounds very promising. Maybe a tad louder than most of the songs posted here, but ooh that voice. Intriguing video too. Background on that here. Lena (in English) on Bandcamp here.

Le Couleur

Le Couleur rarely disappoints. The trio from Montreal are outdoing themselves with this new single (from a highly recommended album). An eighties-feel, with pink fluffy edges. But also the loungey atmosphere of Air. Anyhoo, we like it.

Laura Lefebvre

Canadian singer Laura Lefebvre released a bi-lingual leisurewear soundtrack.
