Coralie, I love you but you’re bringing me down…

French girls, singing. No, sighing. Making me sigh. Ah.

Coralie Clément does not seem to be able to find good writers and she can’t rely on brother Benjamin Biolay too much. This track is not good at all. She risks falling out of the top rank of this decade’s French chanteuses if she can’t do better! Should I have included her in my letter in ‘The Times’ published on 19 December 2014, about today’s top singers? It is at: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/opinion/letters/article4301534.ece
and can be read on-line without needing to subscribe.
The eight listed there are Barbara Carlotti, Camille, Coralie, Daphné, Elodie Frégé, LGS, Mina Tindle and Zaz. (The theme of the letter means that Canadians are not included.)
Coralie would have been been offered some great songs had she been working in the far-off 1960s as she would have been favoured by the great duo of that time Jean-Max Rivière and Gérard Bourgeois, who wrote for Gréco, Hardy and Bardot.
