indexBruxelles-based threesome Sirius Plan ‘redefine rock and femininity’ as their website tells us. I’d say Skye, Gaelle and Claire sings as clear as a glass of water and do a angelic version of Alain Bashung’s brilliant La Nuit Je Mens.

French girls, singing. No, sighing. Making me sigh. Ah.

Took a punt on their EP and you’re spot on about the girl’s harmonies and vocal clarity. The band have a great vocal technique, but I’m not sure the material fully does it justice.

The two English language songs sound a little forced and only the rasping Haybabies-ish chorus of “Be a hit” stops the song sounding like the backing for a forgettable TV commercial.

The French songs are much better, particularly the self-penned(?) “L’ailleurs m’attend” and their interpretation (it isn’t really a cover” of “La nuit je mens” is a bit of a grower, although it lacks the undercurrents of menace in Bashung’s original. Have to say though, it took me a couple of listens before I realised that “California” is actually their version of the opener from Mylene’s “Anamorphosée” album. Jury is still out on this one.
